3 Healthy Snacks Under 200 Calories

1. Simply Sweet Potato Fries

Try this great alternative to french fries. Pre-heat your oven to 350. Slice one sweet potato into thin strips and toss with 2 teaspoons of olive oil, salt and pepper. Place them on a parchment paper-lined pan or cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. If you like your fries extra crunchy, leave them in for one additional minute. CALORIES: 191.

2. Raspberry and Greek Yogurt Parfait

Did you know that many ready-made parfaits available in stores are filled with sugar? For a healthier and lighter version, try making your own at home. In a bowl, mix ¾ cup of plain low-fat Greek yogurt with 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. Then layer 1 cup of fresh or frozen raspberries and the yogurt into a clear glass cup and garnish with a couple of mint leaves. CALORIES: 189.

3. Seaweed Tofu Wrap

Try our sushi inspired roll. Mix ½ a cup of shredded red cabbage with 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Then, on a sheet of seaweed, place firm tofu, some cabbage and roll it up as to make a sushi roll. If you are preparing this to go, try wetting the edge of the seaweed sheet to help it stay wrapped. If you prefer a crunchier roll, skip the water and prepare to eat on the spot. CALORIES: 177.

3 Secrets to Help You Be Happy Every Day

When was the last time you did something for yourself?

Here's the catch – I'm not talking about housework, errands or cleaning out your email inbox.

The irony is, when we pursue our best, most beautiful life, we often forget to take a few minutes to feed our mind, body and spirit. How we spend our days is ultimately how we will spend our lives, so why not take a few minutes out of your day to tune into what makes you happy?

Here are my favorite simple practices to treat myself every day:

1. MORNING MEDITATION
Ok, take a deep breath. There's been a lot of buzz on meditation, but I've found the art of living in the moment is so simple. Try this delightful pick-me-up to release tension and revitalize your entire body. Here's how to do it: Sit comfortably on the floor or your bed, soften your joints and focus on your breathing for a few moments. Breathe deeply through your nose and feel your belly expand. Hold for a moment, then release slowly through the mouth until you feel your lower belly contract. Begin this exercise with 5-10 breaths at a time, keeping your spine lengthened and shoulders relaxed. And if the concept of meditation seems a bit too "new-agy" for you, think about it as a moment to take a break, breath and stabilize yourself.

2. GREEN MOJITO BLEND
I'm a firm believer that radiant skin starts with nutrition. This super-green blend is perfect for the health conscious woman who doesn't like to compromise on taste.

Green Mojito Blend
This healthy juice crush fights dull and lackluster skin with a hit of high-energy greens. Green juices have an anti-inflammatory effect that can calm an upset stomach and boost immune function.

Calories: 166
Servings: 2

Ingredients
1 ½ cups coconut water
Handful of spinach
1/2 pineapple
1/2 green apple
1 cucumber
2 pitted dates
Small knob fresh ginger
Handful fresh mint leaves (20-25 leaves)
2-4 ice cubes

Directions
1. Pulse all ingredients to a blender until smooth and creamy.
2. Pour into a glass and garnish with sliced lime and mint. Enjoy.

3. JOURNALING
This daily ritual is so good for the soul! Keep your calendar or planner separate - your journal is dedicated to your wildest dreams (and making them happen). I love to collect beautiful photographs and surround myself with inspiring words.

Are YOU Getting Enough Omega 3 Fatty Acid?

To reduce the risk of heart disease, the Heart Foundation recommends that Australian adults consume about 500 milligrams of omega-3 (marine source) every day. You can achieve this by eating a combination of two to three 150 gram serves of oily fish every week and by supplementing your intake with fish oil supplements (capsules or oil) and omega-3 enriched food and drinks.

The Heart Foundation recommends that people with heart disease consume about 1000 milligrams of omega-3 (marine source) every day. You can achieve this by eating two to three serves of 150 grams of oily fish every week and by supplementing your intake with fish oil and omega-3 enriched foods and drinks.

In addition, the Heart Foundation recommends that all Australians consume at least 2 grams of omega-3 (plant source) every day. This can be achieved by eating two slices of soy and linseed bread spread with a canola-based margarine, 30 grams of walnuts or a variety of the foods that contain plant-based omega-3s (as listed in our review of evidence Fish, fish oils, n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and cardiovascular health, Appendix 2, at www.heartfoundation.org.au/Professional_Information/Lifestyle_Risks/Nutrition)

Why is the Heart Foundation recommending that Australians consume omega-3s?

The Heart Foundation s extensive scientific review found compelling evidence that consuming fish, fish oils and omega-3 polyunsaturated fats has many benefits to cardiovascular health and can decrease the risk of heart disease.

How much omega-3 do I need?

For the adult population, the Heart Foundation recommends consuming about 500 milligrams of omega-3 (marine source) every day. On some days you may consume more or less omega-3s than on other days, but aim to consume about 3500 milligrams of EPA and DPA over the whole week.

We recommend that you achieve this amount by eating two to three serves of oily fish every week and supplementing your intake with fish oil and/or foods and drinks enriched with omega-3.

3 Pieces of Fitness Equipment That Actually Work

BOSU Trainer
Short for “both sides up,” the BOSU trainer provides two types of workouts from one piece of gear. Use either side to make upper body exercises--such as pushups, planks, or other abs movements--more difficult by adding instability and forcing your muscles to work harder. But be wary of standing on the ball for exercises--research shows that doing exercises on one leg is a better (and safer) way to build balance and stability. All together, you’ll work your body harder without adding weight.

Resistance Band
Don’t get the wrong idea when we say this, but a little bit of latex—or rubber—goes a long way. A recent study showed that using bands--also known as resistance bands or stretch cords--can be as effective at improving strength as weight machines. These stretchy training tools work to build muscle mass and power by adding resistance as you pull, lift, and stretch. Plus, they're cheap and portable enough to pack anywhere, so you'll never have an excuse for skipping out on a toning session.

Stability Ball
These gigantic playground balls have bounced their way to gyms around the world as tools for doing everything from improving your balance to whittling your waistline. An easy way to target trouble spots, exercises with a stability ball can work the muscles in your legs, core and upper body.
