Lisa's Addicted to Triathlons!

Learn to Swim Coordinator, Lisa Maclean shares her comments about competing in the Bribie Island Long Course Triathlon. Well done Lisa, a great result!

I competed in the Bribie Island Long Course Triathlon last weekend which was 1km swim 30km ride and an 8km run. After competing in a few of the short course triathlons over the last year I was up for a new challenge of the long course but was a little overwhelmed with the lack of training, the weather and all conditions were perfect so there was nothing to lose!

I completed it in 1hr 56mins and came 10th out of approx 35 competitors. My goal was to finish it in just over 2 hours so I was stoked when I found out it was under! Now I have a starting point with this distance I am determined to get faster, next one is in Feb. It’s made me motivated to train hard over the next couple of months and come up with great results... They are definitely right when they say triathlons are addictive!!!

Everyone has to start somewhere... If you are interested in triathlon training, stay tuned as we are announcing a beginners training course within the next week!

"Tri a MV Cocktail - Add some Liquid, Spin it up and Run it down – It’s Awesome!”

"Tri a MV Cocktail - Add some Liquid, Spin it up and Run it down – It’s Awesome!”

from the MV (Marc Vann) Team.

Marc Vann is a Personal Trainer at DHP, having a keen interest in many sports, with a passion for Triathlons (Tri). Over the past few months, Marc has been training a team to compete in the Bribie Island Triathlon Series. Marc not only trains the team, he leads by example and competes himself.

The first race of the series was on Sunday 14 October 2012, Bribie Island turned on a beautiful day.

Most of the team members have not competed in a tri before, but trained for this event. Race start time approached, the team lined up with nervous excitement, and then went racing.

Marc placed 1st in his category.

Huge effort by Marc, he was suffering from a very heavy dose of the flu and still set a great time.

After Marc finished his racing for the day, he then went back out on the run course and encouraged each team across the line. Just a word of encouragement, knowing that someone is there, goes a long way in racing. In the final 100m in the run leg each team member found something extra and crossed the line very strongly.

Congratulations to Dominique Duhme, Sarah Passfield, Susan Baldwin, Nekia Pender and Michaela Keenan great times by all of you.

A great day of racing had by all
