Congratulations to Amy!



*** A BIG Congratulations to DHP's Amy Hipwood ***

Amy was recently awarded Queensland's AUSTSWIM Teacher of Adults Award and has shown such passion, dedication and care in her teaching.

A few highlights from Amy's award submission:

Amy has immersed herself into the aquatic industry wholeheartedly, continually seeking out ways to further her already impressive knowledge on swimming and water safety. Amy’s passion is teaching, whether it’s teaching teachers or teaching her Adults. Below is the list of educational courses/conferences that Amy has attended in just this past year alone:

Amy is a valuable asset to Dolphins. She shows a dedication to the program and a sincere passion for water safety and swimming in the community, making her a great leader not only at Dolphins, but in her field.

MATE Seminar - Reminder



Dolphins Health Precinct is excited to introduce Making Aquatics a Terrific Experience (MATE), an innovative and interactive community seminar aimed at optimising health and wellness opportunities for people with medical conditions and/or disabilities.

The MATE seminar, run by AUSTSWIM (Australasian Council for the Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety), provides participants with the information, skills and confidence to take a person with a medical condition and/or disability to the pool for recreation activities.

The MATE seminar is not about swimming strokes; it is a guide to encouraging and facilitating physical activity in an aquatic environment for people who do not always have the opportunity to participate in aquatic activity.

Why is Aquatic Activity beneficial?
  • Promotes sense of well being
  • Maximises body function and independence
  • Improves mood and increases self-esteem
  • Endorses water safety principals
  • Provides fitness opportunities for you and your MATE
Who can attend?
  • Family Member (Parents, Partners, Friends, Siblings etc)
  • Support Person or Carer (Personal attendant, Allied Health Professional, Disability Leader etc)

We Are Winners!

You may have heard whispers of our recent good news!

We are proud to announce that two significant awards were presented on Saturday night. Dolphins Health Precinct won the AustSwim Best QLD Swim Centre and Lisa Maclean was awarded 2011-2012 QLD AustSwim Teacher of Infant and Preschool Aquatics.

We would like to thank our dedicated staff who make the facility what it is, and of course, our Members, who make everything worth while.
